UNJLC ( ) aims to facilitate and support the coordination of logistics capabilities among co-operating humanitarian agencies, as well as complement and support the global and field Logistics Clusters. It is done through the provision of Logistics Information Management, mapping, customs, commodity tracking tools and services.
The GIS Officer reports to the Information & Communication Management Officer under the overall supervision of the Chief UNJLC. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and maintenance of UNJLC's capacity to utilise Geographic Information (GI) products and technologies in support of its mandate.
Qualifiche richieste - Education: Advanced University Degree or university degree with experience and advanced training/courses in Geography or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience in a related area.

- Experience: A minimum five (5) years progressively responsible professional experience in cartography, GIS, preferably in the field of international humanitarian organizations (UN and International NGOs) and/or complex humanitarian emergencies environments.

- Demonstrated experience in understanding and managing GIS for logistics. Clear understanding of how GIS can be used to improve humanitarian assistance delivery. A complete, in-depth grasp of GIS practices and tools. Advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop application. GIS data collection and data processing skills. Cartographic skills.

- Working knowledge of graphics and info-graphics design and multimedia software an asset
- Language: Fluency in oral and written English and effective communications skills are essential; knowledge of a second official U.N. language (French or Spanish) is an advantage.

- Organization and co-ordination skills with counterparts within humanitarian agencies. Courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Ability to work under pressure.

- Other skills : Basic knowledge of the institutions of the U.N. System. Knowledge of, and work experience related to humanitarian situations, complex emergencies and generally on developing countries.
