The Institute for Alpine Environment is looking for a

senior scientist in ecological modelling

We seek a scientist who is highly motivated to work within a team with a broad range of scientific backgrounds and has an interest both in basic and applied research.

The successful applicant will be in charge of modelling tasks foreseen in ongoing and new projects, with a special focus on the integration of experimental results into simulation models and linking ecosystem modelling with the landscape and regional scale.

Typical fields of research are spatial and temporal cause-and-effect relationships of landscape dynamics particularly in mountain regions and their ecological consequences. Results will be published in international peer-reviewed journals. We highly welcome development of project ideas and research proposals on this topic.

Furthermore she/he will give technical and functional GIS-support in ongoing projects.

Qualifiche richieste Requirements include a Ph.D. (preferred) or M.S., strong quantitative skills, spatially explicit modelling experience, programming skills, background in statistics and excellent oral and written communication skills. A sound background in system ecology and/or landscape ecology, GIS and a demonstrated record of productivity are requested. Good organization and team skills, very good English skills, good German and / or Italian skills are also desirable.
